Kindergarten Science - Changing the Shape of Wood

We’ve been learning about various materials and how they are used in the world around us. We experimented with a block of wood and learned how to change the shape of wood! We sanded it and saw how that created sawdust. We collected some of the sawdust evidence for our science notebooks.

We also used wood chips/sawdust/glue to make our own particle board to show how scraps are not wasted. We even used popsicle sticks glued together to share how they make plywood! We tested the strength of a single popsicle stick vs 5 ‘laminated’ together with glue.
