Thankfulness Drive

Today, we gathered all of the donations from the last few weeks for the Macomb Foster Closet, along with items purchased through our Thrivent grant with Mrs. Pace.

Thank you all for your generosity! Our students loved seeing the pile grow and loved hauling it all out to Mrs. Pace’s vehicle to be taken in for donation. We pray these items will be a blessing in the lives of many others.

Timeline Project 2022

Your child brought home a homework project today - a timeline of events from their own lives!

They may use photos or draw pictures.

The writing portion may be completed by the student OR the parent (or a combination)

This will be due next FRIDAY, when they will share their timelines with the class, and then we will hang these in the hallway.

The projects will be returned to you, but I would not use priceless or irreplaceable photos!

NWEA Testing

Today we took our first NWEA assessments of the year! These tests will be used to show growth over the course of the school year. Kindergarten has 2 assessments (math and reading) and are about 20-30 minutes long each. It’s a bit of a process to get each student set up to take it, but our kindergarteners did a fantastic job learning how to maneuver through the assessment. Most even claimed it was FUN to complete!

Kindergarten Science - Changing the Shape of Wood

We’ve been learning about various materials and how they are used in the world around us. We experimented with a block of wood and learned how to change the shape of wood! We sanded it and saw how that created sawdust. We collected some of the sawdust evidence for our science notebooks.

We also used wood chips/sawdust/glue to make our own particle board to show how scraps are not wasted. We even used popsicle sticks glued together to share how they make plywood! We tested the strength of a single popsicle stick vs 5 ‘laminated’ together with glue.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

This week, we enjoyed the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We read the story, created our own trees with our name climbing up the coconut tree, and then on Friday afternoon, we made our own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom snacks! They class loved them and said they were the most delicious trees they had ever eaten!
