Thankfulness Drive for Macomb Foster Closet

A huge THANK YOU to all of the families who donated items to the Macomb Foster Closet! Along with our Thrivent grant, we were able to donate a huge pile of clothes and toys! These little ones were thrilled to be able to help out.

“Friendsgiving” and Friendship Soup Day!

 Kindergarten loved pitching in to help make Friendship Soup (aka vegetable soup) today in kindergarten! We all pitched in to add an ingredient, sprinkle some seasoning, or stir the soup. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the soup along with rolls, pumpkin pie in a cup, and a cookie! Everyone was willing to try a bite. To encourage everyone to try at least a taste, I even tried the pumpkin pie in a cup (and I am SO not a pumpkin person!)

I am SO very thankful for all of these sweethearts!

 

50th Day of School!

 We celebrated the 50th day of school in style! Poodle skirts, polka dots, leather jackets - everyone looked great! We learned to do the Hand Jive and The Twist, and learned a dance to Yakety Yak! So fun! We listened to 50’s tunes throughout the day for our 50’s bingo, checked out some classic cars (okay, maybe not all from the 50’s but still cool!), and enjoyed root beer floats. We also watched the intro to Leave it to Beaver (“Why is it all GRAY, Mrs Gastmeier?!”) and part of Cinderella, which debuted in March of 1950. We had a blast!

 This week, our kindergarteners read Izzy the Ice Cream Fairy with Mrs L in art class during their study of the work of artist Wayne Thiebaud. They created their own ice cream art with 3D paint, enjoyed an ice cream treat, and had a super crazy surprise on Friday morning - Izzy the Ice Cream Fairy had visited the class and added sequin sprinkles to their ice cream creations! 😊
