Fishy Friends!

You’ve probably heard from your child by now, but we have new visitors in our classroom! Earlier this week, some new little friends joined us for our new science unit: 3 goldfish and 3 guppies! The students were very excited to be able to observe them and help take care of them. I was very excited that they survived their first week with us! Lol!

They are still unnamed at this point, but we’ve received some fabulous suggestions including, but not limited to: Little Nugget, Fishy, Peanut Butter, Tissue, Nemo, Jolly, Funny Clown, and Tuna! We’ll keep you posted when they decide on the names!

We also had a visit from a bucket of minnows and the bait shop was kind to include a couple of perch as well. We got to observe the similarities and differences between different types of fish. The students observe how the structure of the fish helps them survive and meet their needs.
